# How to import a backup file

1\) Open the *Automatic backups directory* on your PC/Mac. If you don't remember where the directory is, open the bibisco and check the settings page.

2\) Choose a backup file (file with **.bibisco2** extension) and then import it as a project:

**PLEASE NOTE!** If the most recent backup doesn’t contain the desired data, please try using older backups, as bibisco automatically creates backups at regular intervals.
